As we enter into summer the most challenging time for giving I want to ask, “Is your giving running on all cylinders?” A car is a great thing to have when they run. Even a running car however needs continual maintenance and upkeep. You can’t simply drive it until it stops or runs out of gas. You have to give it care and attention. The same is true for giving to your church!
Too many churches never do anything to increase giving at their church thinking their engine will simply keep churning along at high speeds. Then when difficulty arises they simply don’t know what to do to fix the problem. Most engine problems can be avoided with continual maintenance. The same is true when it comes to addressing sustaining giving to your church. A little attention goes a long ways!
Why is it so many churches ignore the obvious, without funding achieving the vision God has given you becomes more difficult. Even the most challenged of us when it comes to vehicle maintenance, people like me, know that you at least have to put gas in the tank to run the car. Yet many churches act as if the fuel they need will be there any and every time they need it. The reality is giving to the church is in decline. So why are so few doing anything about it? Here are some thoughts…
