How to Use End of Year Appeals to Increase Campaign Giving

Do you know how to use end of year appeals to increase campaign giving?  End of year giving is huge for charities and churches alike.  Consider that 25% of a charities yearly income comes in the last few weeks of the year.  These charities know they MUST get their message out or they risk not being fully funded.  Do you have a message and plan ready for end of year giving?  Let me share with you some key steps on how to use your end of year appeals to increase your campaign giving.

Step One:  Craft a compelling message of why people should give to your campaign.  In the next few weeks your members will be receiving appeal letters and emails from non-profit charities.  They will have compelling pictures and messages of some crisis and need that must be met.  Will your message be heard above the roar of all the other appeals?

You need to make a case for why people should give their end of year gift to your campaign.  Tell the story of how your campaign is helping fulfill the mission God has given your church.  Your message must be clear, concise and compelling.

Step Two:  Develop a plan of action for your end of year appeals.  Don’t simply depend upon passing the plate every weekend.  You will need a detailed plan of action to communicate your message.  You will need to utilize all your platforms from direct appeal letters, emails, Social Media posts to weekly offering talks.  From now until the end of the year you need a plan of action.  Churches that plan for end of year giving get end of year giving.  Churches that don’t plan for end of year giving are losing thousands of dollars.

Step Three:  Work your plan!  I always say, “Get a plan and work your plan.”  Who owns seeing that the plans you develop get accomplished?  You can have the best plan but if it is not executed it is worthless.  So, work your plan!  If you don’t have a plan get mine!
