If your church wants to know how to fully fund 2014; begin with the end in mind. In 1989 Stephen R. Covey wrote the international best seller entitled, “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.” It was an instant success and many other works playing off that title sprung from the original. Habit number two was, begin with the end in mind. In other words you start determining where you want to end. As we start looking towards the New Year I am assuming that you and your church are interested in fully funding all your missions and ministry initiatives.
So, let’s start with that goal in mind, fully funding your ministry in 2014! OK, you might say, that is easier said than done but how exactly do you do that? Church giving continues to be challenged and it doesn’t look to be improving any time soon. Well, you can sit around and do nothing and fulfill the projections of the experts that say giving to the church will continue its decline. Or you can do something! I don’t know about you but I would rather do something rather than nothing!
Step One: Do Something! The churches that are struggling financially are the ones that are doing nothing. They lack a plan but more importantly they lack the initiative. As a leader in your church the responsibility of whether or not you are fully funded is in your court. Assume responsibility and take action. By the way habit number one in Covey’s book was…
Be proactive. You have to take initiative in the leadership of your church by realizing that your actions are the primary determining factor for effectiveness of stewardship. You must take responsibility for your choices and the consequences that follow when it comes to being fully funded.
Step Two: Get a plan and work your plan! I have written up scores of stewardship plans for churches. Those churches that have followed my plans have always seen their giving increase. Typically we see churches increase their giving anywhere from 5% to 15% yearly. One client over six years has seen an increase of over 200%! Without a plan you will fail. If you don’t work your plan the best plan will fail. So, get a plan and work your plan!
Step Three: Let me help you develop a plan. The mantra that I live by is, “Reversing the decline in giving, one church at time!” I can help you just like I have helped hundreds of churches literally around the world increase their giving. I want you to know that our plans are…
